Broadband for Less - Support

Setting up your Broadband using modems not purchased through us
This guide contains troubleshooting for modems not purchased through ADSL4Less. Please note the following is a general guide and obviously hardware setup programs will vary. If you require troubleshooting help with routers please click here.

Step 1

Open your internet browser (i.e. Internet Explorer) and go to ..
Tools > Internet Options > Connections

You will see your internet connections listed. Delete any old dial-up/broadband connections and then click on "AccessRunner DSL" and select "Set Default". Also, select "Never dial a connection".



Step 2

If you have a control panel for your modem then search the same for the username and password section. If you do not have a control panel for your modem move straight to Step 4.

Enter your ADSL4Less Username and Password as
emailed to you and check the following ...

A There are no spaces in the username and password
B The username and password are all in lowercase
C Make sure username has an @ sign not the word “at”
D Ensure the password is correct
E The password format is bx and five digits i.e. bx12345


Step 3
Click OK and try to connect again.

If this is not successful then go back into your control panel and search for your VCI and VPI settings and ensure they are set to the following ...

VCI should be set to 38
VPI should be set to 0



Click OK and try to dial again. If this is not successful move on to Step 4.


Step 4

Make sure you are entering your correct username and password when connecting.



Step 5
Uninstall and re-install using the following instructions ...

A Double click 'My Computer' then 'Dial-Up Networking'. You should now see an icon for modem. Right click on this and select delete from the options.
B Uninstall your modem by going to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and click on your modem and click Remove.
C Restart your machine
D Install your modem using the CD supplied with your hardware.
E Check your ADSL4Less Username and Password are correct
F Restart your machine
G Click OK and try to connect again. If this is not successful move on to Step 6.


Step 6
On your desktop right-click My Network Places.
Click on Properties
Right-click on your dialup connection
Click Properties.
You will find the current dialup number here.

This should be 0,38

Click OK and try to connect again.
